Heather Blooming Festival Amelinghausen
Amelinghausen holds its festival, and the contest for its Heather Queen from the 13th.-21th. Of August.The festival will be opened with an impressive display of fireworks over the Lopausee. On the programme for the following days are theater performances, concerts and the choosing of the Heidebocks“ ,The undisputed highlight of the festival is, without a doubt, the election of the Heather Queen at the Kronsberg, and the ensuing procession through the town of Amelinghausen. The election of the Heather Queen is always the second last sunday in August, the last day of the colourful Heather Blooming Festival
In the year 1949, the members of the Amelinghausens male choir decided to select a Heather Queen, in conjunction with their song festival. This idea was such a success that already the following year the first official Heather Blooming Festival in Amelinghausen was held. In the year 2009 the Heather Queen was selected for the 60th year by a jury from various regions.
During her one year reign the Queen represents the council of Amelinghausen, and the district of Lüneburg at some functions across the country.

Heather Blooming Festival Schneverdingen
The town of Schneverdingen also offers its residents and guests a spectacular Heather Blooming Festival from the 25th.- 28th. of August. 2011.It was celebrated here in 1922 for the first time , known then as the „Festival of the White Roses“. Since 1936 its been called Heather Bloming Festival.
The Heather Queen is chosen in Schneverdingen by a commission and then crowned on the open air stage in Höpental. A large procession through the town precedes the crowning. The complete programme consists of theater shows, open air events,lantern procession and fireworks.

Heather Blooming Festival Holm-Seppensen
The Heather Blooming Festival in Holm-Seppensen, from the 26th.-28th. of August. 2011, is not as well known as the festivals in Amelinghausen and Schneverdingen, but every year it offers a colourful programme. In the year 2009 the 60th Festival Queen was selected. The Heather Blooming Festival Queen is chosen by the audience in Holm-Seppensen.
Every year on the programme are events for children, a traditional lantern procession, a Ball as well as the choosing and crowning of the Festival Queen.
